What is Kratom Extract?

Extracts are basically kratom powder cooked down into either a condensed tea, a resin, or crystal powder. Making extract is not an easy process. It’s easy to mess it up; you can get it too hot, not dry it down enough, fail to protect it properly with preservatives. You can waste a lot of product if you don’t get it right. Kratom extract is commonly consumed in the place of or in conjunction with the regular powder to help with all the things for which you began taking kratom in the first place.

Kratom Potency Explained

Kratom extracts are often listed for sale with numbers identifying them. For instance, you may notice listings that say “60x” or 6:1. If the person making it is starting with 600 grams of powder and ends up with 10 grams of extract, they would then have 60x extract, which is considered very potent. If they started out with 60 grams of powder and ended up with 10 grams, they would have 6:1 or 6x extract. Keep in mind that if the beginning product is strong, the extract will also be strong, but if the product they started off with is weak, the end product will be weaker as well. That is the main reason why the numbers are not always an accurate gauge of potency. If you are purchasing from a vendor with quality kratom, the extract will likely be quality as well. The source of the product is just as (if not more) important than the numbers.

Kratom Extract Breakdown

There are three main choices of types of extract. Figuring out which one is right for you can be a difficult choice. The truth is that there is no wrong answer, each person is different. Each extract comes from a different part of the process. Liquid is the most dilute, because it comes from a point in the extract process before the extract is fully dried. Generally when one consumes a liquid, it is in a larger quantity than either of the other two, so all in all, it can be just as effective. Resin is the next point in the process when the extract isn’t fully dried but is almost so. Once removed from the heat, the resin continues to dry out on its own through another process. Therefore, it’s not quite as dehydrated as crystals. The crystal extract is fully dried out with low heat to create the strongest, most condensed extract.

To be clear, this information should not be considered instructional. There are many steps in between that are not discussed here. Making extract is a long process that can take several days. It’s not something most people bother making because it’s a very arduous and time consuming process.

Kratom Tolerance Issues?

Some consumers have reported that extract may increase tolerance with repeated use. You should always research how much and how often you should consume any herb or extract. Extract can be a powerful tool in your arsenal, but be sure you know how best to effectively utilize it.
