Cat’s claw (Uncaria tomentosa), a tropical vine. The name comes from its hooked thorns, which can resemble the claws of a cat.
Mostly found in the Amazonian rainforest and in tropical areas in South and Central America.
There are two common varieties, Uncaria tomentosa, and Uncaria guianensis. Uncaria tomentosa is the most used in supplements in the United States.
South America has used the bark and root as a traditional medicine to assist with many conditions, including, inflammation, cancer, and infections.
